Did I Do Something Crazy Last Night? February 20, 2008 |
| You know, excuses are rampant in the world today.
"I'm too tired to workout" "I just don't have time!" "I don't have the motivation" etc. etc. etc. But one of my favorites is..."it's too cold outside!" Well last night I proved them wrong. I got home from a very long day. I was up at school from 9-6 and in that time wrote a 5 page paper and took 2 tests, as well as sat through FOUR 1.5 hour classes. When I got home, know what the first thing I did was? I worked out! I didn't use the excuse of "well I've been at school all day, I'm just too tired" No, I got off my butt and put 2 layers of clothes on (my family was laughing at how I looked) Then I warmed up a bit by jumping rope and headed outside to the hill, and had at it. Ahhh, the joy of sprinting up a hill in 20 degree weather. My lungs were beating hard, my legs were burning, and I even started sweating a little. And guess what? My metabolism is STILL increased from what I did last night, and will continue to be increased all day. That's the power of high intensity interval training. In my next e-mail I want to talk to you about one giant myth of high intensity interval training (especially uphill fitness training - AKA hill sprints) and why it's hindering millions of people from becoming in the best shape of their lives. Until then, take a minute and check out the absolute BEST book ever written on the topic of hill sprints - www.jeremyreeves.com/Recommends/Hill-Sprints Jeremy PS - If you're thinking "I'm too old for that", PLEASE do yourself a favor and check out this book. The author is probably just as old or older than you are! It can't hurt to check it out.. Here's that link again - www.jeremyreeves.com/Recommends/Hill-Sprints |
