"Push Aways;" Variation on the Traditional "Push Up."

My favorite body weight exercise is a modification of the traditional push up.
Instead of pushing against the ground, go to the bedroom and place your hands on the edge of the bed so that when you are arms are extended, they protrude at an angle from the bed and your body is also at an angle to the bed.
Place your hands on the edge of the mattress, not on a frame or foot board as your hands are more likely to slip or pinch, nor will your hands twist.
The mattress will also have a slight amount of give to prevent injury. Balance on the balls of your feet.
Begin to "push away" from the bed, keeping your body at an angle. This exercise not only strengthens the arms but the abdominals and legs as well.
