Yoga Ball Squats

Simple squats are among the most effective leg exercises, but they're not very fun for people with wonky knees or delicate backs. That's because maintaining proper balance during squats can place unwanted strain on these problem areas.

So how do you get the benefits of squats without damaging your knees or back?

Place a yoga ball between your lower back and a wall. While leaning against the ball for support, lower your butt until your thighs are parallel to the floor. Hold this position for a moment, then raise yourself back into the original position.

The yoga ball will help you stay balanced, while keeping your back straight at all times. It will also prevent your knees from extending too far forward.

Give it a try. You'll be amazed how a simple piece of apparatus makes this basic exercise much more fun.

I wouldn't call a ball an apparatus but I wholeheartedly agree with what you said.
